Migraine and coronary artery disease: An updated open study on the genetic polymorphism

چکیده
Genetic factors that increase susceptibility to oxidative stress, endothelial disfunction and, possibly, stroke include angiotensin-converting enzyme gene deletion polymorphism (ACE-DD) and the methylentetrahydropholate reductase (MTHFR) C677-TT polymorphism. The relationship of ACE-DD genotype to ischemic stroke and cardiovascular disease is controversial, but it has been independently linked to lacunar infarction, in the absence of carotid atheroma. Lea et al. (2005) reported that the ACE DD genotype acts in combination with the MTHFR T/T genotype to increase migraine susceptibility, with the greatest effect in those with aura. The “TT” polymorphism is also associated with an increased risk of migraine with aura, independent of other cardiovascular risk factors. The aim of our study was to evaluate the incidence of ACE and MTHFR genes polymorphisms in a consecutive series of migrainous patients and of patients affected by myocardial infarction. We studied a series of 200 migrainous patients (1), whose age was between 13 and 77 years (146 suffering

CYP2C19 Genetic Polymorphism in the East of Iran: Its Association with the Severity and Pattern of Coronary Artery Disease
Introduction: Since there has been a dearth of research on the assessment of CYP2C19 polymorphism in the east of Iran (Khorasan provinces), this study aimed to detect, CYP2C19*2 and CYP2C19*3 allele frequencies among patients with coronary artery disease. The participants were selected among those referring to Emam Reza Hospital, Mashhad, Iran. Furthermore, the current research was motivated to...
متن کاملAnalysis of the association Hind III Polymorphism of Lipoprotein Lipase gene on the risk of coronary artery disease
Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death and disability around the world. Interaction between genetic and environmental factors determines susceptibility of an individual to develop coronary artery disease . Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) play an important role in the metabolism of HDL-C ( High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol ), LDL-C (Low Density Lipoprotein Ch...
متن کاملThe association between NFKB1 -94ATTG ins/del and NFKB1A -826C/T genetic variations and coronary artery disease risk
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is considered as a chronic inflammatory disease initiated from early childhood. Nuclear factor κB (NF κB) and κB1A (NF κB1A) are the key regulators of inflammatory responses. The NFKB1 -94ATTG ins/del and NFKB1A -826C/T polymorphisms may contribute to the development of CAD. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association of these polymorphisms wit...
متن کاملAssociation between rs2228014 Polymorphism of CXCR4 and Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis: A Case-Control Study
Introduction: Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease and is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular disease. Vascular plaques are formed on the inner surface of hardened arteries and gradually develop, reducing the diameter of the arteries. CXCR4 is one of the most important chemokine receptors, whose presence has been confirmed in cardiac plaques. Our aim was to determine the relations...
متن کاملStudy of the correlation between ACE gene polymorphism and coronary artery disease
Introduction: Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is an exopeptidase that converts Angiotensin I to Angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor and releases aldosterone, and have a critical role in hypertension. In this study, ACE insertion / deletion (I/D) polymorphism and ACE activity was determined in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and normal subjects. The corr...
